Hi all,
I read somewhere that AVG isn't all that good of a virus protection/scanning program. However, lots and lots of people continue to use it. I recently, on a recommendation from a friend, downloaded Avast! and rather like it. Is it really better than AVG, though? Is something even better, but also free?
I have avg antimalware installed on my lab top and pc. It works better than avg antivirus.
I like Avast and it's completely accessible if you uncheck the skins feature. I've used it successfully for about a year, but I can't say it's better. All these programs are only as good as the people that keep them updated, and I've had even Norton not catch a virus, so. Sweep offten, say weekly, and use the protect three, a spy ware, a fire wall, and a virus program, then top that all off with good computer habits and that's about all you can do.
Good advice for sure.
i personally like AVG, i've had less problems with it than any other anti-virus program i've ever used
why on earth do people feel it is worth relying on free software for the best pc security they expect? Buy yourself a good product, and you'll find it much better than any of the free crap. wow, people expect everything for nothing. You'd not expect a security alarm to be installed in your house for free now would you?
I have to agree. I would never trust a free antivirus program. I use nod32. It's relatively inexpensive, and completely accessible as long as you uncheck the graphical interface. I installed it over a year ago, and I haven't had a virus since.
um, if you feel the need to pay, there's AVG pro, perhaps you haven't heard of it? lol
sure there is AVG pro, I used it way back, and payed for it, but it was still crap in comparison to other far superior antivirus programs.
I like Avast, and recommend it to everyone. It's detection is super. It stopped a virus from infecting my machine by visiting a website. I don't mean to get all security crazy, I am not visually impaired, but there is this great program called McAfee SiteAdvisor, it's free, I am not sure how accessible it is though. It gives sites a green, yellow or red rating depending on spam, malware, spyware, etc. I've saved myself at least 30 times with it.
